ORLANDO, Fla. – A man was arrested Sunday after he kidnapped his girlfriend and their 1-year-old child in an Orlando neighborhood, police said. Several witnesses told police the man, whose name was not released, pulled the woman by her hair before forcing the pair into the car in the Carver Shores neighborhood, authorities said. Police said the woman tried to escape several times. Orlando police said the incident started in the neighborhood and ended at South Street and Rogers Street, where the man crashed the car. Video the witness shot shows police and medics responding to the incident.

The man then got into a car and sped away with her and their 1-year-old child in the back seat, police said. The car was later found by an Orange County Sheriff’s Office helicopter, which followed. The man drove away again before crashing into a ditch, officers said. “They were asking him to get out of the car with his hands up,” said a witness who did not want to be identified. “He proceeded to get out of the car, seemed like he was going to put his hands up and then next thing we knew, he took off through the neighborhood.”
