One of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s funniest and most annoying guns, the 725 shotgun that seemed to have unlimited range, has been nerfed. The nerf came as part of a balance patch that developer Infinity Ward released on Friday morning. The patch also fixed several bugs in the game, added the Hardpoint mode to multiplayer, and gave players two free maps. After the patch the 725 shotgun will have a bigger spread, both for hip fire and when aimed down sight, and most importantly reduced damage range. This should help stop its proliferation across multiplayer, and reduce the incident of players who were using it to get kills from across entire maps. Modern Warfare’s latest patch also significantly changes the way recoil works in the game. Being crouched or prone used to adjust the recoil players felt from guns, but that’s no longer the case. Claymores have also been adjusted to have a narrower trigger and damage area of effect. This patch also adds Hardpoint mode to multiplayer. Hardpoint is an area defense mode where both teams are tasking with attempting to take over and control a specific location. As long as your team is in control and has members standing on the point, your team’s score will go up. This makes for a fast and chaotic mode that has been a favorite of the Call of Duty community. Players will also get Modern Warfare’s two latest maps for free as part of this update. The Krovnik Farmland map is coming to the big-team Ground War game mode while Shoot House will be added to the smaller multiplayer modes.
