Prey Anti Theft: Track & find stolen Phones, Tablets and Laptops
Prey is a freemium Web service for tracking and monitoring laptops, smartphones and other electronic devices. A software agent is installed on the device to be tracked. It connects a host computer. The host can signal the agent, prompting it to reply with information about its current location, and can trigger various other actions.
100% geo-location aware:
Prey uses either the device’s GPS or the nearest WiFi hotspots to triangulate and grab a fix on its location. Right on the spot.
WiFi auto-connect:
If enabled, Prey will attempt to hook onto the nearest open WiFi hotspot when no Internet connection is found.
Light as a feather:
Prey has very few dependencies and doesn’t even leave a memory footprint until activated. We care as much as you do.
Know your enemy:
Take a picture of the thieves with your device’s webcam so you know what they look like and where they’re hiding. The police will be thankful.
Watch their movements:
Grab a screenshot of the active session — if you’re lucky you may catch the guy logged into his email or Facebook account!
Keep your data safe:
Hide your Outlook or Thunderbird data and optionally remove your stored passwords, so no one will be able to look into your stuff.
No unauthorized access:
Fully lock down your PC, making it unusable unless a specific password is entered. The guy won’t be able to do a thing!
Full auto updater:
Prey can check its current version and automatically fetch and update itself, so you don’t need to manually reinstall each time.

FAQ’s:
Q: I installed Prey but I can’t find any icon to launch it. Is something wrong?
A: The reason you’re not seeing anything is because Prey is made that way, so that the thief won’t be able to detect it.
Q: I know where the thief is and what he looks like. What should I do now?
A: If you know the guy, you could try contacting him by yourself and reclaim what is yours. Otherwise, probably the best idea is to contact the Police and give them as much information as you can.
Q: Can Prey be removed by a thief?
A: Not unless he has your administrative password.
Q: And what if he formats the computer?
A: That’s a different story. We encourage you to add a BIOS password and disable booting from removable devices on your PC, so that the thief will be forced to boot into the previous installation and thus, not be able to format your hard disk easily.
